Why are saxophones so expensive?
I've seen student saxophones online that cost $900 $1800 and professional saxophones that cost $2000 up to $15000, why is that? Is it because of the record labels that buy it for the artists? Any sax costed $300 $600 in the 1970's. Why so expensive?
I have to buy reeds for saxophones?

What are all those different types of reeds on that link above?Are they just brands or actually different types of reeds?Can I order any one of those and will they do the job or are they literally diff. types of reeds?These reeds are for my uncle in another country.He's been playing for a while now and he was reeds strength 3 for ALTO Sax and Soprano Sax. Apparently saxophone is easy to learn if you already know flute. Is this true?
I've been playing flute for about 6 years now, and in the last two years or so I've discovered that I actually hate playing classical, and love playing jazz.I'm in the jazz band at my school, which is fantastic, but my solo's always sound so weak compared to the solos from the trumpets saxophones.For a while now I've really wanted to play saxophone, and I think saxophone's better suited to jazz than flute is except for bossa's and that . Obviously I understand that the embouchure is completely different, but apparently the fingering is similar. Will my experience in flute make learning saxophone easier faster? Let me know

Do Saxophones Sound Good with String Orchestra Instruments?
I'm listening to Titanic Suite by James Horner and for some reason I keep imagining saxophone sounds when the strings play something. It sounds pretty good in my head, but of course things that sound good in your head don't always come out right in real life.Do they generally sound good or at least adequate together?
