What is the best brand of saxophones?
I have a Selmer Alto Saxophone and my friend said that it is a bad brand. Being me I like disprove people. So if anyone can really tell me that would awesome. Thanks

Are Saxophones Made in Japan Bad?
I just bought a brand new Vito, never played before. On the back it says " Japan serial number " . I can play every single note on it, except for high notes after super high D. I can go all the way down to low A on it. I've had it for about a day, and I love it Its extremely durable, and made with super thick brass. Its an intermediate sax by the way. Is it bad because its made in Japan?
Why do I get such an airy sound from my saxophone?
I have an Alto american conn sax...it sucks I guess. I want to be the best but can't. I get such an airy sound and a raspy sound with the mid range notes. ANY advice on how to improve my sound???? I know it's not me cuz i play other peoples saxophones and I sound fine.

Hey guys, I'm in a 7th grade concert band. I'm getting tired of my clarinet, and want something new. I recently wanted to go trumpet, but my teacher recently told us if any clarinets would want to go saxophone. So, i was thinking if i should go. The seller seems to have a very positive review and the saxophone has really good reviews so i should be good. Now for the questions.1. Does the color of the saxophone effect it? My teacher said something about going into a band and they need a silver or gold sax or something.2.How hard is it to learn a alto sax coming from a clarinet? I'm willing to practice until i play ok on it.3.Is there different kinds of Alto Saxophones? I keep seeing one that has like High F key or High E key. Whats the difference between each one? Should I buy a Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone without playing it first?
I know that they are great saxophones, and they normally run higher than a new Reference 54 alto, but there is a company with an ad in a saxophone journal I get, and they have a few Mark VI's that are a little cheaper.. The only thing is that I wouldn't be able to play them to try them out..
How much would a vintage alto saxophone cost?
I have been playing alto saxophone for 2 years now, and according to many people I have worked with, they say that I am ready for a professional saxophone because of my outstanding accelerated learning. I have heard that vintage saxophones the less shinier, newer ones are much better in sound than new saxes. If I am not ready for a vintage saxophone, what kind should I buy?

I play the alto sax now but I'm very interested in getting a soprano. I don't know much about brands and the sax i play now is one i got handed down from my cousin Its a Grassi, which they don't make anymore. I've been looking up different brands for a while but keep getting mixed results. In conclusion, i've come down to these brands which I'm considering YamahaSelmerJupiterYanagisawaKenny G seriesI've heard good things about these ones but don't know much about them KesslerAntiguaBuescherBelcrestAnd i've heard that these brands weren't so great Celio SimbaSoulMaxtoneJean Baptisteand Jupiter also although it was on the first list, i've heard very mixed things I'm willing to spend up to about $2,000 or maybe more.Don't want to spend more than $4,000 I dont have the money now but would like to save up. I don't want to buy a student sax and i feel that anything under $800 won't be worth it. I've heard alot of good things about the Yamaha YSS62 and 62R but heard they don't make these anymore, but that the YSS 475 is the same thing but without the engraving. Also heard good about the Yanagisawa S991.Thanks for the help, the more i looked up the brands i started to lean towards Yanagisawa and Yamaha but like i said i've heard so much about different brands i didnt want to ignore the other options. And ihavent looked into cannonball but i definitely will.
