What can you tell me about those colorful saxophone mouthpieces?
So, I might be getting a new saxophone soon mine's pretty beat up and the new one will either be really cheap or free since it's coming from family . I play alto sax in jazz and concert band at school. Last year I noticed that one of the lead altos in jazz had a orange mouthpiece that appeared to be made out of glass he doesn't have it this year . I have also seen ads on Facebook for colorful glass mouthpieces. I want to try a cool mouthpiece like that if I get the new sax. Where can I get one? How much is it? Are they any good? Would you recommend it? Would a metal ligature still be okay with it?

I know what it measures...but I can't figure out what difference it makes other than the amount of reed vibrating. Does it make the sound brighter crisper cleaner? More projection? What I'm after is the difference to the player, and the difference to the listener. All I've found so far is that a higher number is " more advanced" .

I gonna try to get a completely new setup for my alto sax so i need to find the best mouthpiece I can. I need one that can play altissimo notes, has a jazz style sound to it, and is over all an insane mouthpiece. up until now i've just been using crappy mouthpieces you get with the sax.

New saxophone mouthpiece?
I've had my mouthpiece for 3 years now and I think its time i got a new one. It's only a bog standard one which comes with the saxophone and my saxophone was a beginners one from gear4music. Basically thats the quality of my mouthpiece. My question is where do i get a new mouthpiece from? I am now in the higher grades of music around grade 5 6 and my current mouthpiece has a chip in it from a year ago and i desperately need a new one as i have an important concert soon. Also what do i need to look for in a new mouthpiece i'm really confused . Please help me with any sites which would be good for getting a mouthpiece or of any shops near Exeter Devon which would help me in my quest.Thanks
