So, I might be getting a new saxophone soon mine's pretty beat up and the new one will either be really cheap or free since it's coming from family . I play alto sax in jazz and concert band at school. Last year I noticed that one of the lead altos in jazz had a orange mouthpiece that appeared to be made out of glass he doesn't have it this year . I have also seen ads on Facebook for colorful glass mouthpieces. I want to try a cool mouthpiece like that if I get the new sax. Where can I get one? How much is it? Are they any good? Would you recommend it? Would a metal ligature still be okay with it?

I gonna try to get a completely new setup for my alto sax so i need to find the best mouthpiece I can. I need one that can play altissimo notes, has a jazz style sound to it, and is over all an insane mouthpiece. up until now i've just been using crappy mouthpieces you get with the sax.
How long does an alto saxophone mouthpiece last?
I recently bought a Yamaha AS 4C mouthpiece and a Rovner ligature, however, I bought a Yamaha YAS475 Alto Saxophone, that comes with another AS 4C. How long do saxophone mouthpieces last? Can I just save the 2nd mouthpiece for a long time?
