How can I improve my saxophone playing?
I've been playing the tenor for about 2 months. It's the first woodwind instrument I've learnt and also the first where I've had to read treble clef for, as my other instrument is guitar.My timing is good and breathing comes naturally as I do singing.But I need to improve A LOT with sight reading quickly and also coordinate my fingering better so I can play faster and with fewer mistakes. I'm 14 and I take lessons from school on a hired instrument.I am in the junior band but I'm a bit slow to read and play compared to the others.I'm going to try and get a sax teacher out of school so I can get more learning done, but before I do that, what are some good exercises for me to do to improve my reading and fingering?My teacher says to practise but I do that every day and once I know the song then it's no longer practising reading, it's just remembering how the song goes. So how do I get faster and more accurate with reading and fingering?Thanks
